Visit the Art Institute of Chicago which was founded in 1879 to view such classic works as American Gothic. The Field Museum of Natural History is one of the largest in the world, and has exhibits spanning from early fossils to interactive exhibits about the importance of conservation for the future. The Museum of Science and Industry houses over 2,000 exhibits in 75 major halls, and is one of the most popular attractions to visit in Chicago. Last but not least is the Adler Planetarium, a public museum founded in 1930 and dedicated to the study of astronomy and astrophysics.
You’ll find many Chicago landmarks simply by taking a walk around the city, including Millennium Park, where you’ll find the Cloud Gate sculpture, affectionately known by many simply as “the bean.” Take a walk down Navy Pier, a 3,300-foot-long pier over Lake Michigan. Enjoy the stunning views, or visit the many gardens, shops, exhibits, and restaurants encompassed by Navy Pier. A few miles south of Navy Pier, you will find Chicago’s renowned Shedd Aquarium on the waterfront, originally founded in 1930 and housing over 1,500 species. To see more wildlife, visit the Brookfield Zoo and explore their 216 acres of exhibits.
