St. Louis, MO: August 1, 2018 – Air Choice One, a St. Louis-based regional airline, has announced its latest passenger counts for the first half of 2018. Airline officials report that the total number of passengers flying both in and out of Southeast Iowa Regional Airport increased by 16% from January 1, 2018 through June 30, 2018 over that same period in 2017. In addition, total number of enplanements in Burlington increased by 15%.
“When we established service in Burlington in 2010, our goal was to not only provide an exceptional air travel experience, but also to help grow the accessibility of air travel so more passengers could take advantage of it,” said Shane Storz, CEO of Air Choice One. “Over the years, we’ve continued to listen to the community, adding flights, destinations and adjusting schedules to meet their needs. We look forward to continuing this growth pattern in Burlington.”
The findings were recently shared with the Southeast Regional Iowa Airport Board at their July board meeting. Air Choice One provides service from Burlington to St. Louis Lambert International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport through the Essential Air Service program, and to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
This announcement follows other recent news of growth initiatives from the airline. In December, 2017, Air Choice One added two weekend flights from Burlington to Chicago to meet high passenger demand, bringing total number of weekly flights to O’Hare International Airport to 14. The airline was renewed for a new four-year Department of Transportation contract to serve Burlington in November, 2017. Air Choice One serves an average of 13,000 passengers per year in Burlington, a number that is expected to grow substantially in 2018.
